First off its a 96' HB with a GS-R swap. I/H/E. When driving under 75mph the car drives normal but once I exceed that speed the car shakes a lot! I'm guessing it could be my tires needing a balance/alignment. Could it possibly a need of new axles? Its GS-R axels that came with the swap.

If there are no tears, pull on the axle and if it moves exessively then I would think about them. Normally shaking at higher speeds is due to unbalanced tires. Alignments are normally pulling issues. Unless the tires are fubered up. Like cupping or feather.

 

the easiest way to know if you have bad axles is to go turn tight circles in an open parking lot with as much gas as you can, they will knock if theyre bad...and check the boots visually to see if theyre ripped...

you need an alignment....

 

Can it be the bushings in the lower control arm or something? (just throwing iddeas on the table)

 

i doubt seriously that those bushings are bad enough to let the car shake, they would have to be almost non existent to let that arm shake enough to shake the shock with enough force for it to wiggle....

it could be bad ball joints, if they are bad, the car woud violently wiggle from side to side sometimes, and it could be more moderate at times....be careful of that, you can lose control easily....

 

Check your rotors too.

i am having the same problem right now, only over 75 does the car(94 civic coupe) shake or vibrate, i have been doing some research on this and in my situation it turns out its the tires, when rotors are warped the steering wheel vibrates the whole time your stopping which mine does not do, balance and aliangment didn't fix my problem either, and i know my axles are good. good luck with your problem and check/replace your tires
