after hearing lots of people talk about the weight in a "seat belts in the door" crx vs a "in the pillar" car with very little specificity, i decided to weigh both doors and find out.
my car is a 91 si, and it is having a serious anorexia problem. i didnt want to gut the nice doors that were on it, so i picked up some 88's to swap on and gut. since i had everything off, i figured i'd see how much lighter they are to start with. both doors are complete with everything. the 88 door didnt have a door panel, so i picked up another one i had to make everything fair.
pics follow, but here is the skinny-
me= 160 lbs.
91 si door with me= 245 lbs/ door = ~85 lbs
88 door with me= 225 lbs/ door = ~65 lbs
i also weighed the seatbelt from a 91 = ~6 lbs
all figures are with my bathroom scale, which is why i'm holding the stuff, since it is more accurate over 50 or so lbs. it's accurate enough to compare weights, and it's all i have around.
so...
even if you remove the seatbelt, you're looking at 14 or so lbs heavier per door for the "belts in the door" cars. with the seatbelt, it's 20.

88 door on a 91 car. it works- don't let them tell you it doesn't. it isn't lined up perfectly because it isn't bolted yet- just set on for the pic. i just need to get everything cut up and sent off to paint.

images and updated weights of gutted doors will follow.

is it a 88 HF door because i think those weigh less.
i wish there would have been a complete photo of you holding the door, IDK i just think it would look funny.

those weights are gutted right? no regulator, window glass? what about side mirror?
yeah, we all know already that 88 doors fit on 90's, but 90 doors dont fit on 88's.

everything- really. glass, actuator, mirror, handles, door panel- everything
neither door had speakers however.
the picture of the door on the car is after i took off some of the trim and the mirror. it was all on when i weighed them.
edit: i know you know which ways the doors can swap (like most other things about crx's), but threads like this

mislead other people trying to do the same.

i dont think there is a difference, but i do not know what model this came from. anyone who is good with color codes or other identifiers (i don't have the door panel) able to tell? the only thing left that could make a difference really is the door beams, which i dont know if they are the same or not. they are coming out anyway...
