Default KYB or Tokico??

Hey guys, I am doing some work on my 92 teg and the next step is to lower it. I am considering new shocks and springs and keeping them the same name. I have narrowed it down to 2 and maybe someone could help me out..

KYB GR-2 Shocks and Springs or Tokico HP Shocks and Springs

GR-2 are meant to be more of a stock replacement, if you are going to lower > 1.5" I'd look at the AGX's instead.

kyb gr2 and tokico HP are stock replacement, if you want performance get kyb agx or tokico illumina, alot of pplz said koni yellow is really good too, but i duno i have tokico illumina, make sure u buy it from a autorized shop, because you rather pay a little bit more to have that warrenty, dey'll replace it for you if the shock goes dead.

I got a set of Koni yellows w/adjustable coils(non-brand coils) on my DA and I love the ride quality now. Way better than just slamming your ride w/no support.

Neuspeed is garbage.

KYB AGX and H&Rs Sports. Or buy this setup:

I personally say tokico, dont buy the blues though. Spend the little extra cash and get the whites, if you dont you wish you did. I have tokico's coilover shock, I recommend them.

If you don't have a ton of cash, the blues are fine. I've had them and several of my friends do have them currently, they ride fine even with a drop as low as H&R race springs.

That refers only to a street-only car, if you want to track, look into a full coilover setup. If you're just staying on the street, I don't see the point in dropping top dollar on a super adjustable suspension setup that will just go to waste.

I have Neuspeed Sportline springs which have fairly mild spring rates, but the KYB GR2's couldn't even handle them. I went ahead and replaced the fronts with KYB AGX's, and the diffference is between night and day. And no, the GR2's arent blown, they just can't handle the spring rate.

Just to give you an example, when I am running down the road and a small pot hole is unavoidable, the front will be a little blip, but the rear tire will be a huge BLAM. It is so obvious when you have good shocks up front and crap shocks in the rear, blip, BLAM, blip, BLAM. Can't wait to get some DC model AGX's for the rear, which will fit perfect with my drop, because they don't make the rears for our second gen tegs.

That's pretty crazy.. I've heard a lot of bad things about gr-2's in particular, though. A local shop owner actually said he'd rather sell my friend stock shocks than gr-2s. He went with the blues, and it's a very smooth ride with his H&Rs.

when i dropped my car i slapped on some kyb agx shocks that i got from the shop that i work at and i think they work really well. i also like how it was adjustable too. i recommend the agx but the tokicos are good too.

If you're going to lower your car I'd suggest you just spend your money wisely and get a whole coilover system. The money you put out for shocks and springs are going to run around same area as the complete-one-piece system. Plus you don't have to worry about clamping the stock springs with a compressor.

There are plenty out there for a fair enough price for your ride too! Try looking for omni-power or if you'd prefer my recommendation the teins are off the charts.

Aftermarket shocks + aftermarket springs = bumpy ride

Complete coilover system = comfortable, less worrisome driving

But if you just HAVE to go with your last two narrations I'd go with the KYB ones.

Come to your conclusion and let us know how it works out for you.
