25+ old cars and smog.

That's true, kind of, here in California.
The trick is that at that point you don't have to go in every other year for a smog check. It does not say that you can remove your smog equipment.
So you are not technically free to modify the car. I may not be correct, but I think that if a cop thought your car was not legal, he could send you to the Smog Referee. Then you would have to put back all the equipment.

and who knows if that rule is going to exist or not be extended to 30+ years in the next few years.... gray davis tried to do that before he got ousted.
in PA cars made 1994 and back they only do a gas cap check for emissions so u can do basically any exhaust setup and im pretty sure ther aren't sound laws with the exhaust decible sound

they just cut it off. its set at 1975 i believe. They wont be extending it anymore. so if you have a 76 anything, and you were waiting til next year... youre screwed. Also theres parts of CA that dont require smog certification for registration. For example, if you live in humbodlt county, your car doesnt need a smoggin even for registration.

yea it's set at 1975 or older...anything newer still requires SMOG...i believe it also states that if ur car is made after 4/1975..u still need to smog...so some of the '75 cars still have to be smog...correct me if i'm wrong...read it from one of the DMV bulletin sent to my shop
