ZC guru's i have some questions..
I have an 88 4 door DX civic (well my boyfriend does) and the motor took a poop on us right before he left for a few months. he pulled the motor out and got a SOHC ZC replacment. I would like to know the following for attempting to put this motor in with his little brother. :
1) Will the stock DX intake manifold and exhaust manifold work fine?
2) will the DX ECU work with the ZC motor?
Or am i going to have to go junk yard shopping for a crx/civic SI MPFI intake manifold and ECU and wire up 2 extra injectors etc.?
Im not looking to go fast or anything with this car i just need a daily driver again..

1.) I think si intake manifold will work, the ports on exhuast mani don't line up on dohc so i doubt they do on sohc but besides that it should work if you bend the down pipe part(take to local exhuast shop)
2.) dx ecu definitly won't work because dx ecu is for carb. not fuel injected, use an ecu computer.

do not listen to that man he is a moron, and dont give out information u do not know ef9zc, ok first of all u have to convert to multi point fuel injection its not that bad just do alot of reading on it like i did and the sohc zc will come with nearly all the parts needed for it. so read up on that and u wil hvae to get an 88-91 crx/civic ecu (pm6) where he got carb from i have no idea. so just read up and the search button is your freind good luck.
you dont have to do any MPFI swapping if you dont want to. the engine (block and head) can be swapped along with the old DPFI and exhaust manifolds.
your DX ecu will work fine with all your normal DPFI equipment.
basically, a SOHC ZC is the same D16 block and head. cam is only different. its nothing like the DOHC ZC.

the SOHC ZC motor can be ran however with using your existing IM and EM and ecu. It will not run to its fullest potential but it will run and get you what you need at this point, a daily driver. Since the stock motor in your car was a SOHC, and your replacement is a SOHC, it is not absolutely necessary to convert to MPFI and change ecu's etc.
Ex. When I first got my hatch, I had ZERO cash and a perfectly fine HF motor. I needed daily trasportation, even though the HF motor was MPFI motor in the HF CRX, I swapped the motor in, and used the stock IM and EM and bam, it ran like a champ and I drove it for over a year like that till I swapped in my DOHC ZC motor. Let me know if you need any help with your motor swap................be more than glad to try and help you out where I can......
