Default ls/vtec has sudden loss of power

I am running a ls/vtec with skunk2 cam gears in a 91 civic hatch.
Here is my story...
The other night I was driving home and decided to engage vtec. I had it set to engage at 4800 RPM. I rode it to 7000 and released the clutch. There was a "quoo" noise and then my idle dropped from the usual 780 to 490 and cut off. I started the engine and continued on my way home but there wasn't any power. The timing was off some so I have adjusted the cam timing, ignition timing, valves, and fuel pressure.
My current symptoms are...
car runs smooth but doesn't have the "oompf" that it should. vtec will engage but when it does there is no gain in power. and after vtec engages my idle drops back down and the car cuts off.
Any ideas please let me know.

Doesn't sound good. Set everythign back to stock setting. Take a good look around the engine bay make sure everything is OK. Also is the check engine light on? hard to say....

...found the problem, i chased wires on my ecu harness and the Vtec pressure switch was getting an intermittant signal... why it didn't pop a code 22 is anyone's guess.
