Default insurance question

I got into a accident last night where a lady rear ended me. I am not on the policy of the car that I was driving, but the cops came and said the lady was at fault and gave her the tickets. I wasnt able to get any of her info but the cops made a report and gave me the case bumber and stuff. At this point if im not on the policy of the car, and i call the insurance company, what can happen?. The car is fully covered though. Whats the easiest thing to do?

Is it in your parents name or something? If it is and your not on there policy at all, and they find out you were driving you have to pay for it. Your insurance company only covers who is on the policy. On mine, if need be I can let someone else drive if for some reason I cant for that day or something. Like I break my arm at a game, and my buddy drives me to the hospital he is covered.

It depends on the coverage, have the policy holder call it in and not mention they werent driving unless they ask. My car is covered no matter who drives it. They'll get pissed if it wasent me but ohh well its covered just like Im also insured if I drive someone elses car and they dont have insurance. I do pay more tho for that coverage tho its not something standard I think. I have progressive but I'm switching next month because someplace else will cover me for a lot less then $100 a month (Damned speeding tickets) for full covereage.

well, you should be covered no matter what. I have gotten into accidents with my moms car before, with full covereage, but then she had to add me in there. Which the accident went on my record. The Ins. was fixed but i had to go on there, and yes it went up
! opps, my bad! but I was rear ended just like you.

Well anyway all of you are luck, I pay 270 for full on my EJ8, and 170 for liability! now beat that! ERR freaking ins. companies....

i just hope my car dont get totaled. The biggest damage was done to the rear left wheel which is broke and the rest is body and fender damage from the gas tank back and around to the left tail light

Sounds worse than mine and they totaled it like 5 min lol. The big thing with hondas are they are a uni-body, so in the rear it doesnt take much for the frame to tweak. Getting the car on the frame machine isnt cheap. If your bored you could go out and start measuring different points on one side of the car, and then see if they are the same on the other side. You can flame if you want but this is how I knew mine was going to be totaled. Here is a link to my thread when I got hit. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1281792

yea its worst than yours only by the wheel being broke. I wish it was like yours, all my damage is on the rear left since she clipped me. My car is a 1999 though wit a retail value on KBB for like 8grand

I hate to say it but I have a feeling they will total it. They normall go by NADA instead of KBB, but every agency does their own thing. On NADA that was worth $3250. $3250 was 100%, at the time my car was 94% so whatever 94% of $3250 was is what I got for it. I got like $28?? for it, but I kept it and they took like $4?? and I ended up with like $2350 or close to it. If the damage can be fixed for less than what is worth then they probably wont total it. Its easier for them to total i though. The quote the adjuster gave me was $3300 to fix it. So they totaled it.

man that just made my day. what year is ur car?. Im hopping that since my car is still newer they will fix it. I owe like 5grand on it and i have just spent a little more than half of what i owe on it alone in upgrades this summer. If the wheel was broke or whatever i wouldnt be as worried as I am. at this point they would have to give me what I owe on the car plus a couple grand ontop of that and give me the option to buy it back at a very cheap price to make acceptable to me. Other wise i want it back fixed

The car was a 95, I didnt mean to make you feel like ****. I would think it would be like $3000-$4000 to fix that. Im not sure, go find some bodyshops and see what they say.

$186 a month for Liability only on a 95 Del Sol SI. I think it's time to switch insurance companies. I don't even want to think about what full coverage would be.

Stupid thing is: No Speeding Tickets, No Moving Violations, No Open Cases on my record. One minor incident (less than $250 worth of damage to BOTH cars that was technically my fault) and one major incident (much more damage, that I paid for.) insurance companies suck!

I hate that so many people are so displaced by Hurricane Katrina (I've seen some of the damage first hand), but if you ask me, it's Karma coming back on the rediculous rates insurance companies charge these days. They are gonna be shelling out a BUNCH of money to cover this disaster.

ha. i'm 21. wouldn't think it would be like that but ya. i have a really good attorney who can work magic at the DMV, so if I pay him, i can get some of this crap straightened out then call back the insurance company and be like "what? i don't see any recent accidents. REFUND OR CUT MY PREMIUMS BACK!!"
