Look at the condition of this car!
I am hoping this link works for everyone... This is my 1989 Honda Civic DX. Right now the wheels are painted black, same wheels, just black. I am also working on painting the interior black (I hate the brown it is now). Using some pretty nice gloss black vinyl paint. I kind of was discouraged against paint because of the chance of scratches and such, but it has held up pretty well as long as I take car of it. It took me 8 hours to paint just the dash cause I had to tear it all apart to paint everything. The body is super super clean all the way around and the motor runs really well. I was hoping to save up for a B16 this summer but that wasn't possible. Hopefully the B16 will one day power this car. Tell me what you think.
Hopefully the links will take you to the pics. If not cuss me out and then show me how to do it right. Haha.
The car right after I got it.

you had that brown interior didnt you?
the most ugly thing honda ever put its name on.
matte black "vynal coat" spray is the closest match to the original color honda made the factory black dash i was ever able to find.
when i added a center console from an EK sedan I used it and no one has been able to tell the difference.

Yep, it was brown. Still is in most parts of the interior. It is a big job ahead to get rid of ALL of that nasty crap though. I was looking at just replacing stuff like the seats, carpet, and stuff like that. The gloss seems a bit too shiny at first compared to what a factory black will look like, but then if you think about it it just seems like it has an Armorall coating year-round.
Works for me!

Just remember to put some clear-coat over it, that will help alot with the scratches in the future. I've had a few friends paint their interiors both with and without a clear coat over it, deffinatly much better results in the long run with the clearcoat. Looks pretty good from the photos though.
If you find some areas that seem to get scratched more than others, try getting some actual vinyl wrap. You can get sheets of it off this site: http://www.rvinyl.com/ , might hold up a little better to the scrathing and its pretty cheap too.

I don't know why, but I never thought of clearcoating it. I guess maybe it was because I never saw a vinyl clearcoat. Does it have to be for vinyl? Those dash wraps are cool for some accents, but I don't see any EF Civics? Oh well. Thanks for the ideas!

I just recently broke 191K. It runs excellent though. After parking it in the same super clean driveway for 6 months there was never once a drop of oil on the ground. I need a new main fuel relay and a new rear motor mount though. Those are the only mechanical problems I have ahead of me. I am pretty sure it does burn a little oil though, but it is a small amount. Before I bought it the axles were replaced, along with the starter and some other stuff. And it has a fairly new timing belt and water pump. I am stoked that I don't have to immediatly pour a ton of money into it. I also think I need some new suspension bushing in the back, it squeaks a lot.
