need some advice...
well the other day when i was getting out of work here in valencia. i was driving home. i was makin a right turn when BAM some stupid bitch brushed up on my driver side door. its not really that bad. but i got a dent in my driver side door and a dent on the bottom of the 1/4 panel by the door. and the paint got scratched from 1/2 the door to the back of the 1/4 panel. this is on a Del sol.
my question is will her insurance company pay to have the whole car painted or will they only paint the damaged area? and also is there any way i can rape her insurance company?

they're only obligated to pay to fix what was damaged.
you can get your estimate done at one of the higher end, expensive shops, then find a more reasonably priced shop to do the work.you can either pocket the extra money,or put it towards getting the rest of the car painted.
do you own the car?

i've done this in three situations.if you own the car,you can request a cash settlement.the insurance company will write you a check that you can do with as you please.you DON'T have to have the car fixed at the same place you got an estimate from.if you have a loan on the car, they will only write the check to a body shop-that insures that their collateral for your loan is fixed, and has resale value should they have to repo it.
in my experiences, the companies will try to still write the check to a bodyshop if you own the car-they'll ask you were it's getting fixed, and tell you they'll take care of the rest.on two occasions i've told them i wasn't yet sure who would fix it,once i just told them i wanted a cash settlement.all three times i was mailed a check.
once i wrecked my coupe.i got an estimate at a high-end shop, and was sent the money.i decided to go ahead and get the whole car repainted and used the insurance money, plus some out of pocket money to get it done.
once my daily driver got hit while parked.i got a an estimate at the same high end shop, and requested cash.i kept the money,as the car was already in bad shape, and having one shiny, straight side would contrast against the other door-dinged,faded side.
on the third time i got rear-ended in my daily driver.i went to the same body shop and got an estimate.it wasn't totaled, but they advise me that i'd be better off to just put that money towards finding a nice condition replacement.when they sent in the estimate, they added that the customer requested a cash settlement.again,i was sent a check.i sold the car for what i could get,and combined that with the insurance money to buy a clean replacement hatch.
