Default Comptech Ice Box or Aem Cai

Wassup..

I did a search on this but didn't get many results. Anyhow I currently have an AEM CAI in my gsr but one of my close friends is selling me his comptech ice box from his previous gsr. Performance wise which one performs better? The AEM CAI or the Icebox?

2)Yes the Comptech Icebox is better then the AEM, who cares about CAI anyways it barely does anything for you.

and besides, AEM CAI does offer pretty good gains, but the Comptech IceBox seems to be about the best intake money can buy (and it does cost a lot of money if you buy it new). personally, i would fab up something from ACE or Home Depot rather than actually buy it. but yeah, pretty much what he said. Comptech > pretty much everything else.

Icebox all the way.

The CAI if fact will do something for you, but then you have to worry about hydrolocking your motor. I run the icebox in my GSR on the coast of Washington, so it rains all the time here, and I haven't had any problems yet.

Comtech ice box... but if you think about it the ice box is basically the same as your factory air box, it just has larger plumbing up to the box.. I ran 3 inch alum. piping with high heat flex hose from the front of my car (where the oem fog light goes) up to the factory box, then I installed the uni filter from comptech (the filter that comes with their intakes) and ran 3 inch piping to the tb.
DIY comptech setup.

we-todd-did-racing.com is down so I cant post pics.. pm me if any one wants more info or emailed pics

Alright thanks for your input. The reason i asked is because there are a lot of dyno graphs regarding the AEM CAI, rather than the Comptech Icebox. I've known and seen a lot of people dynoing 190+ with the CAI and barely any graph's with the ICEBOX. I had my AEM CAI for about 4 years as of now and i just want to go with another setup.

I've tried an aem sri, sounded pretty mean (but it was more sound over function imo). i then tried the AEM CAI....worked/felt good, but it worried me during winter months (RAIN OWNZ). I then went with the Comptech Ice Box system... Felt good, was quiet, and when I drove through a 2 and a half foot puddle, since the road was flooded, my filter was completely dry after driving through it! I was for sure my motor was gonna hydrolock after driving through that chit.... the comptech ice box proved me wrong!

just letting you know Comptech icebox it self dont do ****...you need new filter such as comptech filter or K&N. i'd pick K&N with stock inake arm.

yes, comptech pipe is teh bigger and wo~~ shinny, but its not really worth it.
comptech

iceman? ya they are 3"pipe all the way i think..but dont like having that in my state.

AEM CAI sucks. rubs on AC lines and rubs on motor mounts. Haha. Go ahead, buy AEM.

Ge the Iceman for less mess.

you probably won't notice a big difference power wise. but the comptech is better than the aem in other ways. no hydro-lock, not as loud, can be used with stock intake arm, gives the car a stock look, easy to replace or clean air filter and it's comptech.

if you don't care about the benefits for the icebox, keep your aem cai and save your money for something eles.

Hey 94integrals: Where did u get that pipe from?? You should do a DIY thread on that. Right now i have the 2820 K&N and took out the resonator below the box. Then i want to wrap the pipe that leads to the tb when i get that pipe from fiter to tb.
