Default Toe Out -- 1/8th or 1/16th?

How much of a difference is there between 1/16th and 1/8th toe-out?

I've been running 1/16th for a year. Tirewear seems fine, and the turn-in seems really good.

With 1/8th will the car be too twitchy on the street, or no?
Also, will the ultimate grip in cornering be effected at all or the just turn-in response?

FWIW, I run 1/8th out in the front with zero toe in the rear.

I don't find the car to ever be too twitchy.

Twitchy = loose = fast

I'm sure there is a noticeable difference but I never ran 1/16th I run 1/8th out total in front and 0 rear and have a very easy to handle car. Extremely stable and almost no rear end looseness, only when the tires are cold.

My street tires (azenis 215's) I don't notice any abnormal tire wear, actually pretty even. My track tires on the other hand (V700's) I notice definite wear on the outside edges to the extent that I've corded 2. But this is Not a Toe issue, it is because my car is stock suspension and not able to adjust the camber properly to compensate.

For the front? No, not in my experience. It may just follow rutted surfaces a bit more and possibly wander if the surface is crappy and rough. But nothing you can't handle if you pay attention. As a matter of fact, I noticed the steering wheel shake more on the street when I went from the stock USDM wheel to the JDM non SRS wheel . It wasn't a poor alignment or wheel/tire combo because everything there checked out. When I went to the track (actually 2 different tracks) I noticed how much smoother the track surfaces were and how much less the wheel shook. I'd guess the shake is directly due to both the smaller diameter wheel And the toe setting but nothing to be too much of a pain in the ***.

Agreed I actually find the car pretty darn stable.

I previously had a poor alignment done and asked for the same settings. Come to find out when I got a very good alignment that it was pretty far off. But what I noticed on track only, not on the street, was that the rear end would slide to the drivers side under high speed braking which can be extremely un-nerving. Don'tcha know that the front toe was a bit wacky and the passengers rear was almost 0 but the drivers rear was out at least 1/16th (which iirc is stock setting) but made the car all sorts of a handful when I drove it.

Understood but I also think that "twitchy" could also sometimes indicate a poor alignment which does not neccessarily = fast. At least not for me

I run 1/16th in the front and zero in the rear. Works great for me.

In all the discussion, let's make sure we are clear:

Total toe? or Toe each side?

I run 1/16th of toe out each side which equates to 1/8th total toe out ( 1/16 + 1/16 = 2/16 = 1/8)

<-- 1/4 total toe out I should probably try dialing some of that out to see if it makes a difference or not.
