Weird sputter/misfire

No o2
Its open header because I don't see the need to put an exhaust on until I get my full 3" exhaust in
ANYWAYS on to tonight. This is the cars first trip over 20 minutes. I took it about 45 minutes away from my house to meet up with a fellow h-t memberSo I get out on the highway and after about 15 minutes of driving it would sputter bad and I would have to apply more pedal to get it to stay at 70mph. Then All of the sudden it would shudder back and BOOM there we go, its normal. THEN again with it. I get to the gas station where we are meeting thinking maybe the plug wire had come off. Nope. I leave. I get going praying the whole way (literally) and after about 5 minutes sputter and then back. So I started paying very close attention to my actions. I noticed it was only doing this after I had lifted off the gas (as for an upcoming slower car) and got back on it. So I continued praying until I got into city limits (at least there its light and populated and theres less of a chance I'll hear "boy you sure got a purdy mouf."). No more problems after this. I even (against better judgement) took out a 98+ gsr. It ran great. No stutter, no misfire, just ran awesome.
So what is going on here? Is it o2 related?
BTW-no smoke or funny smells
Thanks!!!

yeah i think o2 is a good hypothesis.. i have also experienced a shudder under acceleration from my distributor going bad. i would change your o2 sensor first and give that a try. what ecu are you running?
its not really under acceleration. Its like Im at 70->let off gas to 65->get back on to maintain speed->stutter.
Im running a pr3.

good stuff..
What i also like to do is swap a known good distributer with a friend when i have ignition problems. give that a try... i've seen distributers seize up from sitting for a while, it's a very important thing to check when swapping an older honda motor.

Yeah. I had one that the bearing went bad in and another that the CKP sensor was bad on startup. Im about ready to give up and convert the whole car to an OBD-1 setup.
