whats up guys.. well to get to the point, ever since i changed my stock header to dc 4-2-1 in my 2000 SI, i got this strange smell from the exhaust..so i think...but the smell is really like toxic smelling and ****..the car doesnt drive as strong as it should be... cars eating gas like its nothing...i normally get between 200-250 miles to the tank...and now im lucky to get 120-150 miles to the tank...anyone know what can possibly be wrong... i dont want to spend my money on something that might not even be the problem ya know

A header shouldn't decrease gas mileage in & of it self. I would actually tend to say, if everything remained the same gas mileage should be improved due to efficiancy. Is the header painted? Are you sure the bolts were all secured in the correct order & tightened enough? Do you have an exhaust leak?

did the O2 sensors get put back in and working right?

nah i dont have an exhaust leak, its the full apex n1 catback exhaust...which the piping was heat coated by previous owner..but i had the exhaust on there with stock header for nearly a year without a smell...would o2 sensor throw it off you think?

the o2 sensor is on, but lets say if came out of place or what not..

a bad o2 sensor will kill your gas mileage... throwing any codes???

after i got my evo2 exhaust on last week i got a toxic smell that came out of it for a day or so but now its all burnt out, give it a day or 2 then if its still there take it to a shop.

yeah check engine light came on, and its been such a pain in the ***..cause everytime i fix or replace 1 thing, something else always goes wrong and its a constant pain to keep the car in perfect running condition

do you have any way of adjusting your fuel also? and is the smell like rotten eggs?

see what code it is throwing. you need a jumper wire and the plug is located under the passenger side dash near the ECU.

....or just use two ends of a paper clip to jump the code.
ur car is obd2 so the plug should be light BLUE
