Default Need help w/ gauge cluster, NOTHING WORKS!

I got this new cluster and am having hell trying to get it working. Thank god the speedometer is running off a cable. On the stock dash harness, the fuel gauge, engine temp, oil light, check engine light and left turn signal were functioning right.
Here are some pics of what I've done:

Also I also made this little jumper wire so that I could test the connections one by one hoping that I could pin to pin until I find what connects to what but it's not working.

Is it because I have no ground constantly hooked up? I really don't know. If anyone can help me wit this please post something or at least bump it. I'd really like the cluster to function.

NOTE: I would have simply moved the speedo the old cluster but it still wasn't working. I did not have a stock '88 CRX Si cluster when I had the car, just one from an automatic '89 CRX DX.

what car /model do u have???u shouldnt have to wire it up like that unless the cluster clips were riped off or sumthing......

those looked like 88 crx/civic clips? that cluster should have clipped right in unless u have a 90-91

No I'm putting this into my '88 CRX Si. It had clips in it when I got that were just cut. I plugged it into my dash harness and only a few things worked. And for some reason, when I try to make a right turn, the damn high beam icon on the cluster starts flashing.

The colors don't all match up. I was starting to think that since I don't have a ground wire conncted at all times that me trying to check which wire is which won't work. I'm gonna reconnect everything using the stock clips and then try to do it one by one I guess. I really wish I had some damn dash lighting.

The cluster is going into an
'88 Honda CRX Si

As far as I can tell the cluster came out of an 88-89
1.6 VT CRX.

Alrite here is the wireing for the harness in your car

ill so this with S and L

S being the small plug (center of car)
L beign the larger plug (closer to door)

L1 grn/blu - l turn signal
L2 blu/red driver seatbelt
L3 yel/grn temp gauge
L4 yel/wht fuel gauge
L5 yel/red oil light
L6 red gauge lights
L7 red/blk gauge lights brightness control
L8 blk/yel switched power to cluster (fuse 14)
L9 wht/blu battery light
L10 grn/org engine light
L11 blu tach
L12 blu/yel drivers door

S1 blk ground
S2 red/blu high beam
S3 grn/blk trunk open light
S4 grn/red e brake
S5 yel/red speedo
S6 empty
S7 yel switched power to cluster (fuse 1)
S8 grn/tel right turn signal

In order to use your pin to pin method you need to have the yellow hooked up, the black hooked up, and the yellow/black hooked up.

also all the switches (hazzards) must be plugged in or your signals will not function.

honda uses pretty much the same colors in all the tachs so you should be able to match them up color my color, IF not then follow the trace on the back of the cluster you have and find out what each color goes to. Make sure you write it down and match it up with what i posted.

so far ive swapped 3 clusters, a crx into a hatch, a integra into a hatch, and a sir into my crx. all pretty simple, altho i solder the wires instead of using clips (dont like em, personal preference)

if you need anythign else just let me know thru this thread or pm me

Alright man thatnks a lot for the help.

I have all tools to solder but since I'm doing it trial and error, I wanted to get good connections that I can make and break with ease. If ever get it working right I'll get the original clips pinned so I can just plug them in and out in a snap.

Either way I still wouldn't know what was where.
I can always get them repinned when I'm sure I know where each wire goes. The reason I put in those types of connectors was to make finding what wires go where a whole easier/faster. If I already knew where the wires were suppsed to go I would be doing this or askig for help.

I've since managed to get the tachometer, turn signals, CEL, oil light, trunk open, temp gauge and fuel gauge to work. I can live with the for right now. I just really wanna figure out how I get the dash lights to work.

Oh yeah, crxgator:

The cluster that came in my '88 CRX Si wasn't for an '88 CRX Si. When I pulled the odometer out of the new cluster to roll it forward, I saw that it could not possibly fit in the place of my old cluster's speedometer.
