Man, I have a 94 accord, so I didnt think it would happen to me. My car is very stock looking, except for a mild drop, rims, and a lip. For gods sake, laptops are worth more than my cheap *** car.
I was walking towards my car, and noticed a 88-91 civic HB in green aztec (please someone tell me if thats the right name) with two guys, near my car. (this was in the pomona area, SO CAL) I didnt think anything of it, until I saw them jet off.
"whatever" I thought.
So I got into my car, which was visually okay. I drove away, and tried to use the power windows to pull down the passenger window, yet it wasnt moving. I forced it down, with my hand and noticed that the tint was scratched and the window had a slight crack in it. There were also greasy fingerprints all over it!!!
Now, this damage is minimal, almost non-existant. But if those guys didnt see me coming, they woulda stole it. I went to the police station, but they didnt have time to make a report...so im going back today. (they also said they would take prints)
.......I guess all hondas are prey to these uneducated losers. But I sorta won!
I threw up the shocka when I figured out what happend too....haha.

Before they take prints, find out what they will be using on your window. Some of the products they use will NEVER come off. If they say it's removeable, have them take prints. If not, i'd say it's not even worth the trouble. Unless you plan on replacing that window anyways.

They did file the report (because i annoyed them for a hour) but no fingerprints taken. The officer who helped me was in training...so I think thats why he was a jerk. (no offense to officers.)

A few years back my car was broken into and the cops used a black, tar-like paste on the door handles and windows and it all needed to be replaced. This did happen in Pennsylvania though, so I'm not sure what they ise in California, just thought you might want to check on it first.

update:
with enough effort, it can be done. I made a appointment so someone from the LAPD to fingerprint my car, this week.
remember guy to keep working at it, if your local police dept doesnt wanna try.
