have you been living on a mountain dude? the ls/v is old skool. one of the older hybrids and probablt the most popular, just watch out because the ls bottom end wasn't made for vtec so your gonna have to get oil pressure to the head elsewhere.

ya well, i cant afford a 5 thousand dollar swap. so, unless there is a cheaper alternative, the ls/vtec it is.

one late "craze" is the CR-Vtec...basically, a crv block (b20) with a SiR(B16A)-GSR(b18C1)-Type-R(B18C5) head and a SiR(B16A)-GSR(B18C1)-Type-R(B18C5) transmission....makes for a honda motor with torque.

sorry, not tryin to keep an old thread going or anything, but dont feel it deserves opening up a new one. Just wondering, with the LS/Vtec, what would be the best block to get? any of the older b-series would work right?

a true ls/vtec is a gsr block w/ ls crank. but any ls bottom end with a vtec head would do, and depending on what diagnostics youre running (obd0-b18a / obd1 - b18b) would determine what block you get, even though there isnt much difference. ls/vtec, if to be driven like a true b-series vtec motor, must be built. you can do a cheap ls/vtec but you may only see a few thousand miles out of it. these setups arent designed to be cheap, if done right, but can be cheap but would be considered "done wrong". lol. now that might have gotten a little confusing for everyone so do yourself a favor and SEARCH...good luck mang...

thanks for the response man. the reason im askin so many questions is cuz, i got a pretty reliable motor right now, but seein as how i race so much, im sure it's gonna go boom eventually. so while i have no real rush, i'd like to maybe piece one together for that one rainy day. im just tryin to see if there is any advantage from one motor to another. cuz i saw someone on here with a b20 block. i was thinkin more displacement, might make for a better hybrid. but i guess ill have to do some more research. thanks.
