Default "SELF-SCAVENGING STAINLESS STEEL TURBO MUFFLER"

This muffler is by RACTIVE and it comes with a turbine on the tip. Here's the whole advertising ish... and i quote!

"-Top performance! Built-in turbine harnesses the energy released when the exhaust gasses cool and expand
-Turbine also creates a partial vacuum to help scavenge remaining exhaust gasses while delivering a cool turbine sound
-Mirror polished T-304 stainless steel with ultra smooth joints and machine ground welds
-Internal rifling of main tubes increases flow and minimizes harsh exhaust tone"

Its selling for $219.95 in the JCW Sport Compact Catalog. Now I look at this and kinda laugh cuz its by RACTIVE for one, but it also seems way too gimmicky. What are your opinions on this?

I think the "cool turbine sound" would be sweet... sounding like a porsche or something... at least thats what comes to mind when i read that. I don't exactly know if the turbine would help scavenging or just increase backpressure... and I havent a clue as to what "internal rifling of main tubes" means.

I saw it too- you must have gotten your flyer in the mail- How does something that restricts flow harness and release power? I would like to hear one of these full race mufflers. With the exhaust flowing- how does the "turbine" ever spin fast enough to cause a vacuum? Maybe it pulls a vacuum under closed throttle which gives extra horsepower- I wonder if it comes with a turbo boost button for your dash?- just like the one Knight Rider had.

Rifling is basically a "spiral cut" in a tube- maybe this is for the optional bullet kit.

yup i got it in the mail... JCW has some good stuff, but they embrace the ricer revolution all too much... someone needs to waste, err... invest their money on this "race exhaust". i wanna see what its like...

Errrrrrrr,,,,,,,,,,, gasses condense when they cool.

"-Turbine also creates a partial vacuum to help scavenge remaining exhaust gasses while delivering a cool turbine sound
How can it create a vacuum at high rpm?? If pressure is building on the muffler side then the turbine speed is increasing and it is restricting flow. Of course when you shift or let your foot off the gas the rpms drop and the turbine momentum might pull a little exhuast gas from the muffler and manifold before it slows down due to lack of driving force.

Ok,,,,,,,,,,, just like every other muffler wanabe out there.

i see we all got the JCW catalogue they are pretty damn ricey if u ask me...but the do have some reasonably priced things

but that muffler may as well have LED's on it cause the people in the market for that are the ones who will buy that whole vacume thing
