Default engine bogging when cold in first gear

i dont know if the two have any relation but here is the senerio:

after header install i would notice every morning when first starting the car to head to school the engine would idle high as normal when first started in winter. I usually like to let it sit till it drops to a steady 1500 before even driving. Once moving for the first time in first gear (accelerating slowing always first thing in the morning) accelerating to around 4000K or lower prior to the 2nd gear shift. I get to around 3000 or so and i notice the engine start to bog out and loose power slightly and decelerate. I hold the pedal position and it bogs and skipps back up a few times but once the pedal is pressed slightly harder it lunges almost violently forward in a way that feels like it suddenly receieves gas that it was being deprived of. After generally one to two episodes of this the car runs and drives fine. With the exception of the usual CEL light which i had prior to the header install and i suspect after running a self check and getting a code 1 to be a O2 sensor that has gone bad.

What is this stalling/choking hesitation a result of? I have gone back under car for visual inspection and all wires are connected correctly. What gives??

not a fuel filter problem. I have been changing the fuel filter, PCV valve, plugs the beginning of every summer, its not that old considering i think the recomended changing intervals are every 60K miles or so. Also, why would the fuel filter all of a sudden cause this problem when i havn't touched the fuel delivery system or management system?????? Yes this could be that problem, but considering that i perform routine service myself on a regular basis and that my car is otherwise in great mechanincal shape i feel that at this time the fuel filter isn't the cause.

Any other suggestions?
