17mm,12mm,10mm,14mm, and possibly a 19mm sockets and probably wrenches with extensions., more than likely a 1/2 inch drive rachet, 3/8in rachet. ball joint fork, 32mm hub nut socket, hammer, breaker bar, a punch(forgot the size) for the spring pin in the shift linkage....thats all i can think of off the top of my head right now. also maybe 2 jacks and a few jack stands and some 2x4's peices

the fork pops the boltjoinst loose from their seats or you could you a pit-ma arm puller(they dont damage the boots), the hub nut socket is used to take the axle nut off(big bolt in the middle of the rotor/hub), breaker bars are extened bars that enable you to get leverage on bolts that have alot of torque on them, and the punch is like a chisel.

Just because he doesn't know what tools he needs does not mean he's not capable of doing the job. I've taken a tranny out and I wouldn't know all the tools I need off the top of my head. Better to ask now than waste time looking for the right tools in the middle of the job.

you gotta start somewhere, my first major car thing i did was rebuild the head on my engine. see if you can work beside the guy and have him show you a few things.
