is the 5th gen accord a good car for a female???
my girl has a 93 civic dx and that car has constant overheating problems for some reason. i would rather just trade the car in for something a bit more roomy, especially since we have a baby on the way in the next 2 months.
i was thinking about getting her a 5th gen accord when i get back from iraq next month. does this particular gen. have any overheating problems or any other major reliability problems???
thanks!!

The 5th gen is a great year.... very minor problems. The best year to look for IMO is a 1997. It will have the extended emissions warranty, meaning anything that causes the check engine light to come on (some extreme exceptions like rodents chewing through wires) will be covered and repaired free of charge.
Thanks for your service Darren. You've done us all proud
You and your future significant other could do a whole lotta worst in your choice.
My immediate family has three CD720's in the driveway (two '97's, one '96) and remain most pleased. So will you.

i'm not trying to say the accord is a female car...
i was just curious because we(mainly her) need a better/roomy/reliable 4dr car to help with her pregnancy, etc.
anyways thanks everyone, for the compliments and info

Since you are looking for a family car, you may want to consider the 6th generations. You can pick up a 1998 or 1999 4 cyl (would stay away from the V6 autos) for around $9k. They are slightly larger than the 5th gens, the rear doors being longer will help you put in a child seat with more comfort. If cost is a discriminating factor then stick with a late model 97.
well in my recent mishap of someone pulling out in front of me, my 1995 accord held up just fine. bent the frame up, etc..., but everything worked, and other than some soreness, i'm perfect fine! i would definitely recommend it

Then go with the 5th gen 4 cyls, I'd look for an EX. Sure the leather will be a pain to keep clean with a little one, but the 4 wheel disc brakes and ABS are worth it.
Good luck.
