My R is Turbo and I normally store it during the winter time, but this year i'm driving it through the winter (Minnesota) any experineces with driving any suggestions besides snow tires? I've always worried about the ride height and the amount of snowfall I should be worried about. Any special precautions since it's turbo?
I live in NY, and drove my R all last winter. I'm lowered about 1.5" also. It did considerable well, and I was using all-season tires. Anything from 1-3" of snow was okay...anything more than that and I was having "issues" (see below).
My only concern would be learning to feather the throttle if driving on snow covered roads. YOu find yourself building boost rather easy and frequently on slick roads.

Good Choice
I roll on Millinia's w/ 195/60/15 Blizzak WS-50's. Not only are they taller, but they are cheaper. I got the 195/60's for a little extra winter ground clearance. I'm stock height and get around like a champ. I have yet to get stuck, but have gotten pretty close in 6+ inches of packed snow. Luckily I layed down the throttle and plowed through.
I would recommend splash guards if you don't have em' They help protect your paint on the sides from rock chips (not exactly protecting it from salty dirt though huh......
).

Have fun.....................

Ice packed in the intercooler = Bonus!</TD></TR></TABLE>

Blizzak LM-22's here (195/55/15) with Mugen Lowdown suspension. No problems getting stuck the past 2 winters - and we've had plenty of heavy snowfalls here.
I live in minnesota.....and to be honest....Im always scared of driving during the winter times. Its like everyone gets into an accident when it snows. Not only that, it rains in the middle of winter too....but not too often though. When it does rain..everything is just 100% pure ice....yes even the roads on the high way...roads out in the boonies....dont even think about driving there...you wont be able to stop and youll just slide right away when you step on the brakes. Snow tires help but its pretty useless on ice. Ok I guess its not the snow you should be worried about....its the ice and the salt. You should wash your car once a week to keep the salt off...but you dont have too. I guess before I start telling stories heres what you should watch out for....empty roads, they're most likely covered in ice.....sleet conditions, most likely youll crash your car, avoiding driving in those condition....brake twice as early and drive speed limit unless your sure the road is dry...but itll still be covered in salt.....you know what....? Dont even drive your R in the winter. Its a disaster for a broken heart and a frozen tear on your cheek.

Don't be a wuss - the car is just fine in the winter when equipped with the proper tires.

My turbo Honda has done fine during the last 2 MN winters.
Doesn't matter if it's a R or not, just get good tires, let it warm up before driving it, go easy on the throttle and plan your braking ahead of time!
