Default ls motor 155psi compression????

ok it smokes like a mother, ive tried another head but it was junk when i got it was well maybe thats y they were gave to me? but the comp is 155 is that very bad? it seems low just not low enough to smoke like it does, could the valve guides or something in the head just be all fucked up? o ya the head thats on there **some moron** ported it with the valve train still in it so ya im sure that could have something to do with it.

if it smokes white smoke all the time you might have antifreze leaking in the cylinder!? if it smokes at start up it might be you valve guides..

well my LS has 150 compression all across the board. i also tested it with 3 jumps of the needle, instead of 10 complete turns of the starter like most people do. that was over a year ago and my car runs perfectly fine...

Did you have the throttle wide open during the test? 155 across all 4 cylinders as well? When there's a large variance between the cylinders, it's a bad thing. When they're all the same, it's actually okay....well, to a point.

The smoke is bad, however. Answer this question.

the test was done with the throttle wide open, also the smokes kind of a blueish white. it puffs smoke right when i start it up and from then after if u rev it, i just picked up a obd1 p75 ls head today, i hope this works out for me.

piston rings = $100, rod + main bearings = $100, ridge reamer, ring groove cleaner, and bore honer from autozone borrowed = $0, new valve seals from Honda/Acura = $50, head gasket = $50 from stealership or autozone even less. there's your price list. $300 takes care of the major causes of oil consumption.
