what are the restriction as far as motor swap and engine modifaction goes while keeping car street lega? Here is some things i heard but not sure.

-Cant put in motor from older cars. Like putting in a year 92 motor in a 95 model car.
-Cant put a vtec head on ls motor
-Cant install turbo in a civic

I have a 95 civic dx coupe, and after buying some rims, i am planning on saving for a itr motor. hopefully, i find good one.

 

they have some street legal turbo kits, the reason they are illegal is because of the open waste gates i assume.

I can't really get into detail into what is or isn't legal. you can try me and ask with more detail. but off the top of my head.

Short Rams = all illegal. CAI only if they have the Bard sticker.
Same with all headers if they don't have the carb sticker.
Cams & Cam Gears = Illegal. (if they know you have if, but i've seen people pass with them)
Any exhuast can is okay, as long as it's meant for the car. (that's pretty open ended tho)
Definitly no major mods. IE turbos, S'chargers. (altho i believe there a few selected turbos)
No older engines.
Car engines in cars only (no b20 )
ZCs and JDM motors are suppose to be illegal but i've herd stories of them passing. Search for more detail.

Anything that comes with a sticker is legal. If it doesn't have a carb sticker it's not. Greddy stage 1 turbo kits are legal as well. You can confuse them if you have built internals with a stage 1 and don't show it off.

JDM motors are illegal but you can legalize them, it's costly but it's possible.

Cams & Cam Gears = Illegal. Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are now Carb, cam gears are still not

Any exhuast can is okay, as long as it's meant for the car. You change your exhaust, its illegal. You have to take the test to make it legal
