I have a swap in my ek also that I am doing. There is the vtec soleniod, vtec oil pressure, and o2 sensor that you have to extend.

itr generally an easy swap, espically becasue its a itr. no seconderies to wire up. but every thing should plug right into the factory ex harness, you will have a extra 3 wire plug somewhere under the i.m./ kinda by the alternator......this is for the crank position sensor on the single cam......now if your jus throwin the type r swap in it will be fine, but in order to make it run on a u.s spec ob2 ecu, to pass emissions(dont kno if this applies to you) you would have to convert the civic 3 wire ckp to a 2 wire for the b-series, you would also have to buy a b -series ckp sensor to do this, or you could custom fab the d16 ckp sensor to the b-series, its really no that hard. the two green wires comin outta the tranny should be for your reverse sensor, that to should plug right in off the stock harness. same with vtec/knock/everything else. the only thing you should extend the iat wire from the sensor on the civic intake, move it to the #2 runner on the i.m. where the itr one is located.......hope this helps

also, like i said if your runnin on a stock jdm ecu it should run without a cel......but if your on a u.s. spec ecu....you got some stuff to go around. the jdm itr ecu looks for a knock signal, but not vtec pressure. if your on a us ecu, it will most likely look for knock.vtec pressure, crank postion sensor. its a lot more stuff to deal with.
