Default very unusual electrical issue

Car: 89 crx si

Engine: Stock

Symptom: Turn the key, nothing. The white/black wire under the dash, the main one has NO power. no blown fuses.

Under hood fuse box, there is 3 wires covered by a small panel. Removed the small panel and found the white/black wire. Unscrewed it from the terminal and gave it 12 volts, everything is fine. I unhooked the battery, and checked for a ground or short in that line.....nothing. The wire is in perfect condition.

It seems like the middle terminal in that panel just died. Now, I can simply jump that white/black wire to the next erminal over and be fine. but, something caused this to go bad, and I'd like to find out what it is. There was no foul smell, no melting, nothing.

Any input would be appreciated.

crack open the fuse box and check the underside.

isn't that a fusible link? check continuity from that terminal to the fuses.

I did some research and found that wire is supposed to have 12 volts all the time. Since the wire was not grounded or shorted anywhere, I lay blame on the terminal (maybe a fuseable link in the fuseholder somewhere?).

I put a fuseholer inline and went straight to the battery with it. If something goes wrong with it, it will pop the fuse before any damage occurs.

Turn the key, all is good again...
