would silencer lose hp

Default would silencer lose hp

putting a silencer on a muffler, would it lose or gain any hp? same goes for resenators. thanks.

Not noticeably.

I took mine to the track before and after and there was no affect on my E/T nor trap speed.

my friend with a mini-me was tunin his car. and they only made 108whp tuned.

and then took out the silencer and it made and extra 3hp
now it's up too 111whp

I coulnd't beleive it

this was on a mustang dyno

it depends wat kind of engine settup u got.. if u have stock.. let say d16y8 ... i would rather put the silencer in a big muffler.. (ex: 3'inch one)... u gain cuz of the backpressure.. but if u go turbo.. or high compression.. better w.out silencer.. u gain some..

Resanators would do the same, but I don't think it would be noticable. FI cars will have not have any gains, and may experience HP loss due to added exhaust flow restriction.
