Default carbon Issue

I want to get a Carbon Fiber Hood for my prelude, however I am not sure if it will come ready to bolt on or will I have to do work on it in order to put it on. I am primarily looking at VIS Hoods. Any info from someone who has these hoods is most appreciated.

They come ready to put on - as long as you know how to put on a hood........its simple

The ViS are great - i have one myself.......the fitment is damn good also.....just sticks up a tad bit by the fenders - but if you get hood pins, it'll correct the problem........good luck.

I got mine off eBay by the way - ......find a seller that has a great reputation(feedback).....and go for it.

Not threadjacking, just curious...

What is considered a fair price for a VIS 4th gen hood? I've seen them all over the map. Plus, I get nervous on Fleabay because I question whether some of the products listed are genuine.

Just go with a reputable company. And when you get it just bolt it on and go. I unfortunately bought mine from a shop that I thought only sold quality parts and the owner swore to me that the hood he ordered for me was the best company that he carries. Well if that is the best company he carries I am afraid of what the other parts are like. I got my hood after waiting over 2 months, it went on back order. When I got it, I bolted it up and it wouldn't latch. I modified everything but the hood. Called the shop and told him about the situation and he basically told me too bad no refunds or exchanges. Needless to say he lost a lot of business.

Yep - i was having problems with mine latching also - you have to literally slam the **** out of it for it to close - which i don't like doing......so i just avoid opening my hood.........I'm going with hood pins though - and i'll take off the latch......

I paid like 420 for mine.......something like that.........

Let me tell you about my experience with VIS Racing Sports: they suck.

I bought a genuine VIS carbon-fiber hood from a reputable shop here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. After about a year, the gelcoat on the hood started to fade and peel off beyond the point of repair. I called VIS to see about maybe sending it in for repair. Whenever I got them on the phone, they interrupted me on every question that I tried to ask them, and they even went as far as to yell at me on the phone because I apparently annoyed them. After that was done, I called the shop that I bought it from to tell them about the news.

When I called the shop, they informed me that they had recently quit selling VIS products and switched over to Seibon for this reason. They were having to send people to Southern California to pick-up VIS parts for their customers because VIS would not send them their orders. Every time the shop contacted VIS about the situation, the reps at VIS would make some BS excuse as to why they could not have it ready this month. On average, it took about six to eight months to get parts for customers ordered from VIS.

After this whole dilemma, I e-mailed the President of the company about my situation. He didn't bother to respond, of course. After that, I reported my experience to the Better Business Bureau, who tried to contact VIS themselves. VIS failed to respond the BBB's requests. As of now, VIS Racing has a report attached to their name for three years from the BBB.

If you have any questions about this whole thing, you can contact the shop that I told you about yourself at http://www.jotechracing.com.

With this said, I reccommend that you go with Seibon products for your carbon-fiber needs, not VIS.

So you all are slamming the **** out of your CF hoods just to get them to latch? I know a guy that has a ViS Invader hood and it latches fine. But from where he is still using the stock hood latch...the carbon fiber is actually starting to crack where it latches...All I know is that I WOULD NOT be slamming my 400+ dollar hood!

Damn I wish slamming my hood closed would make it latch. No matter what I did mine wouldn't even latch. I have to use hood pins to keep the damn thing closed. I would put my stock hood back on but the Police through someone on it and it is damaged far beyond repair.

Jesus, people you don't have slam the hood, just push down on the part right above the latch.

Your an idiot..Don't you think that we have tried that moron. I think most of us know how to close a hood, the problem is it's aftermarket and wasn't made properly. Obviously if we can't close it just by pushing (damn hard) above the latch then slamming it closed must be the only option and for me I had to go with hood pins. I tried everything before, even going to body shops to see if they could fix it and they told me there was no way to get it to latch because of the way it was molded.

WTF are you getting so angry for.. hes just trying to help and make a statment... try adjusting the hood latch on the frame of the car.. i think i might have the worst fitment on my VIS hood out of anybody.. it sticks up on both fenders, and then theres a huge gap over my headlights... if you adjust the hood latch, undo the 4 bolts on the latch, and move it up.. geez. and if that doesnt help, then send that **** back to VIS..... or try to turn the little rubber black ***** on the chassis... right above the headlights, turn them and they'll get smaller.. and dont be an ******* to people who are trying to help... he was trying to protect your investment from dumbasses trying to slam and break it...
