Default Cam gear ?'s

After some in depth reading on here I still have not found what I am looking for. So my question is what cam gears are a good brand to buy? I have been looking so far at Buddy Club and Skunk 2. My future goal is to have 200WHP if that has any bearing on your comments. I do not want to spend a fortune ie: Spoon, Toda, ect. Thanks in advance.

cam gears without cam shafts is purely cosmetics. Sure you can tune it the sprockets with stock camshaft and get a few ponies but I suggest getting some itr or ctr camshafts for higher lift, aftermarket sprockets and possibly hondata and you'll gain some power. If your looking to reach 200 whp, I suggest getting aggrasive aftermarket cams, dual valve springs, retainers, and all necessary bolt-ons. May even need to get higher compression piston.

Yeah agreed, and if you're looking to achieve 200whp cam gears should be the last of your worries right now

I am going to be heading towards 200whp. As of right now i am just trying to put down close to 175whp. If I could get close to that I would be happy for now. Yes my plans are to try to get to 200whp someday, money is my only limiting factor right now. I just spent quite a bit on the "basics". Yes I will eventually get cams and all of that but for now I'm working with intake, header, hi-flo cat, exhaust, FPR, and V-AFCII. I have been reading some articles and posts on Team-Integra (my second home) and there have been some pretty good gains just from i/h/c/e and V-AFC. So I figured if I'm gonna dyno and tune I might as well try to get as much as I can without spending too much more money and cam gears are what came to mind. So thats where I'm at right now.

not a bad choice. if you can push for the civic type r cams, do it! there is a big gain over gsr cams, and no aftermarket springs required. but thats not a bad choice overall. dont be negativley influenced, good luck

be sure to measure and compare to the oem one's. they may be ok, but there is no reason to have to go through the trouble. one of my friend's gears was definently not acurate, plus they are tough to read. they are not first (or 5th) choice in that category of mine. but like i said, just check em, they might be ok. but beware!
