Default 85prelude broken T-Belt is head ok?

I am about to pick up an 85 prelude non SI with dual carbs so my g/f has some thing to drive. It has a broken timing belt. what im wondering is if the head is interference or non interference?

can I just replace the T-belt or are the valves fucked too?

need an answer quick!

Thanks

It's an interference engine.

it is an interferene engine but it MAY be ok. I had an 84 accord that i broke the t-belt on and even with 30% leakdown out the exhaust valve it ran smooth and got great milage.

I used to have an 86 base, similiar to the one you're talking about. Belt snapped and ended up having to replace all the valves. It just depends on the cuircumstances i guess. But hey, it got a rebuilt head and still runs like a champ with its new owner with over 240k miles by now.

But yeah, like said above, to a compression/leakdown test, that will tell you everything.

Had an 85 dual carbed model. Previous owner had the belt snap and had to replace valves. Happened around 66k miles. I sold it with 260k still running strong after the rebuild.

So what did it cost you guys to rebuild the head? This car is very straight and really nice inside and im getting it for $200 I figure even if I put $300 - $400 into it its still worth it for my g/f to have a fairly nice good running car. This will be her 1st car by the way thats why were looking at cheep ones lol.........cause you know its gonna get its fair share of dents and **** up
