Default 01 Civic DX blues :(

I've had my 01 Civic DX when it first came out, i didn't get the EX or LX cause i couldn't afford it at the time, and for the most part i love the car. I had it in Germany for 4yrs while i was in the Army and it did nicely on the autobahn.

But i hated it when i always would get spanked by somebody that had a stupid Neon or Focus. So i added a Magnaflow catback exhaust, AEM V2, cam gears, and pulleys. But right now i'm looking for adding alittle more push in her.

I'm still new to the import scene but I've seen that Turbonetics and i think Denso offer turbo kits for the DX models. But they are kinda costly. And i was wondering if anyone would suggest an same price ranged B series engine swap over adding a turbo?

A engine swap won't really limit me in adding mods later right? And will i have to lose my exhaust if i do one? Where can i find the best places to look for engine swap kits, etc? Also if anyone has advice or suggestions in working with 01 DX models i would appreciate them.

Thx, Josh

oh i forgot.... I've also haven't been able to find street legal after stock exhaust headers... but a friend told me that i should be able to buy off road ones and just tap a hole for the oxygen sensor and i should pass inspection. Does anyone know if this is true?

there is only one 01 civic that i know of that has a b-series, that he had to put in from scratch. he advise that if your not a pro welder, don't attempt.

your best bet is turbo, unless you have enough cash to do a k-series.

Good luck, though

If your looking to get an engine swap stick with the K series....

I would recommend getting a turbo kit for your D-series... You can find them used from the $1200 range and up

agreed, go with the Dezod kit. They now have out only the manifold/turbo/downpipe/Wastegate for a DX/LX for only 1500. WHich opens the door if u want to make ur own piping or slowly piece everything togeher.

Also, Here in canada u can buy a K20a3 for DIRT cheap, near $2000 CND. Now this isnt a super agressive engine, but as shown in another thread with some good cams and tuning they can get close to 200 whp N/A.
