Default CTR Pistons

I found a good deal on some ctr pistons. In the add it said "I polished the tops of these pistons on a buffer wheel at work. I just got rid of the sharp edges." That worried me so i emailed him about it and ask him how much metal he removed and this was his response. "Here is a picture if you are worried about that. Yes I removed metal but very very little. Probably less than a gram total. I removed the lettering on the compression flat, I removed the little piramyd between the valve releifs, I removed the arrow that points forward and I removed the center mark. Basically I just smoothed out any possible rough edges. I work in a machine shop So I polished these up on my lunch hour one day. I did basically the same thing to another set of these. When I tore that motor apart I could take the carbon on the top and wipe it off with my finger because the piston was smooth. Does it help maybee not but I felt better doing it." I posted the picture he gave me below. Do you guys think these will be alright? Since he polished off all the numbers to you think these could be impostures? Would that affect my compression at all? Thanks

something to think about is that if the pistons are shaved off differently, it will effect compression in that not all cylinders will yield the same compression

I'd think doing so would be not very good for the piston itself?

Smoothing off any sharp edges is fine, actually recomended by most. I would be a bit leary buying the pistons but all we have to go by is one picture.

when u smooth out the sharp edges on the top of the piston to reduce the chances of having hot spots!

looks fine to me.

It is actually a good thing to do...it reduces little ridges and imperfections that cause "hot spots" which lead to pre ignition.
