Default Help on front end.

Does anybody know of any shops in south florida to install jdm front ends. I was going to do it at my shop but our first welder broke and the second one was stolen. I just need someone to weld in the support and align the fenders.

Damn you Jim. No I don't own a body shop, I'm just fixing my own front end. This way I can learn how to do everything on the car myself should I have a reason to fix it down the road. Now the JDM front end I've never done. I'm sure it couldn't be to hard. Is the front end already stripped of the USDM front all the way to the frame rails like this.

And then once the new one is in place it should look like this. Mind you this isn't tacked back it, just clamped so I can align it.

It also involves a little drilling to get the old one off, notice all of the drill holes.

If you have the tools to do it, you can do it yourself. It just takes a little time, patience, a weekend and a few beers.

theres another way of doing it without hacking off the entire core support... you can take off just the top portion of it and use the jdm portion. it looks sorta like a T.

I know, just messin with you. Its easy to do if you have the right tools, which I got the impression that you do. I did a JDM front a couple of weeks ago for a friend. Same concept as what you did, but you dont need to go to that extent. If all he needs is some tacking I figured you could make a couple of bucks to do 20 minutes of work.......

I'll hush for now on.......

Nah it's all good. I'm sure you can do it, you just have to have patience and the tools. Speaking of tools, Jim I've got access to just about everything except for an alignment and tire balance machine. Everything else..... Remember my father owns his own shop. These here are just tools he has at his house

Yes but I don't think I would want to do it on someone elses car. I know myself and I really put a lot of effort in my projects and I don't think I would take as much time and care when doing it on another car, ITR or not. I'm very **** when it comes to my car. Not saying I would make his look like crap cause I would do my best to make things align but I don't think it would look as good as if he just took the car to a local body shop and had them put it on. My best suggestion would be to remove the old one by drilling it out and pulling it off, tow the car to them and just have them weld the new one on. Now in order to line things up correctly your going to need the hood and fenders with you as well. If you can get them to just do the rad support you can do the rest yourself.

Note taken. Well at least with body work as this is the first time I've ever attempted it. Now mechanical work? I do that with my eye closed. It's nice to have Snap-On tools at my disposal along with all the little tools that make things to much easier. As a matter of fact I took off the rear mud flaps without even taking the wheels off. My old man has a wratcheting screw driver thing. And no it's not the typical philips head on a socket. Tools make the job....

Does anyone know how much it should cost to have a JDM front end installed at a body shop?

And how many hours labor it should take, assuming they have done the process before?

tia.

I dont know how much it would cost but if you take it to a dealer it would be very expensive.

Your never gonna get a real answer. The cost would depend on too many things, example, location, quality, paint, body work, t-bar or whole support. Youre looking from anywhere between 0-2000 bucks.

I found someone that is going to install it all for 650. I will probably go with that. I appreciate all your help and your pics. Good luck on your car Dave
