Best = Mugen
Popular = Comptech, J's racing and AEM.

I personally rock the J's but it really depends on what your looking for. Max power, broad power band?

I just looked at the 700.00 mugen intake and got 1/2 a hard on. I cant spend the $$ though. Whats in the 300.00 price range or should I find a used mugen?

You won't get a used mugen for 300 but you can get a J's racing for that.

I'd rock a mugen as well but damn that's hella expensive. I'll stick with my J's for now. Now Brad tell him how much WHP you have in your NA car.

Thats pretty heavy driving, assuming its the stock ecu, 6k vtec crossover for jdm itr. I rarely see vtec, even auto-xing. Traction becomes a problem in the turns

But if you say so

I ran a custom oem box/short ram arm before with a greddy filter. It was quiet, but it felt restrictive.

I now run the password intake, and it was a noticible change. WOT is so much better now and its really not as loud as people said it would be.

I read a while ago that there is a carbon fiber short ram aem looking intake that was made long ago that has the best power gains.

I can't remember what it was called of course. I want to say it has a blue filter? If that helps.

I get a laugh when people post up "I want the BEST whatever part" for my car then when others post the "best" supposed part the original guy shys in fear at the price tag.

Ya get what ya pay for and ya gotta pay to play.

But just FYI if you didn't know already, the intake has never been a huge gain producer for the money spent on an R. Better money spent is on a very good header, high flow cat, and at least a matched diameter free flowing catback exhaust and of course consider some or more tuning. But your cams look like they'd enjoy as free flowing an intake and exhaust as possible.

I still say Comptech since the J's and Moojen have their obvious drawbacks.

my car has 205 whp on a JUN ecu. I am switching to hondata and getting it dyno tuned thats why I want the intake to get changed soon, I am not afraid of the mugen price my cars got 35k in mods already including full CTR interior but I dont want to buy a 700.00 intake for 1 more hp than the next guys 300.00 intake. I do like the no bull/s responce I have gotten thats why I posted in the ITR category so some d series civic tuner didnt throw out his home depot intake diagram for me to copy. Thanks for the info and I can make an informed decision with this and get my car ready for gingerman this month.

Well heat soak and prohibitive pricing come to my mind immediately.

What say you?

I would rather use the stock intake (which I do) than pay money for the Comptech when IMO its practically the same thing. I just threw in a Spoon drop in, which was also probably just as worthless

Well soon enough I'm gonna make a CF heat shield and tubing like the mugen one and test and retest and see if I can minimize that heat soak issue with my J's

The design is similar but the diameter of the piping is larger from the horn to the TB and less convoluted.

If you mean the Spoon/Monster filter it's probably the same difference compared to the Comptech, since their all foam and Comptech is just a rebadged Uni filter.

Interior's considered a mod? Should've spent the $$ on the intake instead.
