hmmm... care to enlighten me as to their usefulness? I don't have either and I still manage to drive my car...

Does a shift light tell you the optimal moment to shift gears? Or does it light up when you've over-reved and are damaging your engine?

You set it to the best rpm for each gear to shift, then when you get to it the yellow light lights up.

That's rather primitive, as depending on your driving/accelerating and weather conditions, your "best RPM" can significantly change.

I guess it's just for bling, or maybe just for when you go to drag strip.

That is the "ideal" use for it - in a drag environment. However, it's about as useful as a giant aluminum wing on a neon for driving.

why go autometer? cause everyone has them? Stewart warner has some sick gauges you might want to check out. The one tach is digital with LCD shift light, its about as big maybe a little smaller then the autometer shift light and looks alot cleaner

or you could go with neither.....your tachometer works fine to tell you where to shift....

not its not 100% accurate.....but you will get a feel for it....

dont put big ugly things that dont belong into preludes....
