Looks like this will be my next upgrade. I've been reading and searching alot lately about suspension setups on Integra's especialy the Teins. Anyone have any autoX experience with the GC and KYB AGX?. Dont want to spend $1300 if I dont have to. What about the Nuespeed Bilstiens, or Tanabe Sustec? Anyone know what the national guys use on thier tegs for Prosolo?

 

i would keep the stock itr suspension. something is wrong if the car isn't handling up to par. the stock suspension is absolutley awesome! to beat the stock itr combo, you have to spend some big money.

For starters you have issues if you think the stock ITR suspension is"lacking".Maybe you just didn't do well and needed a scapegoat.
Secondly,do you see people with Porsches putting APC tail lights on them?Then why would you put cheap, low quality suspension on an ITR?
Get a few autocrosses under your belt then decide if suspension is the thing for you.If it is save your money for something good.

 

Yes, leave the stock suspension alone, unless you can afford complete coilover systems. (i.e. teins, zeal, mugen, etc.)

If it was indeed your second autoX ever, then the question you should ask is how to improve your driving. (like we all do)
For instance, are you shfting too much?
Are you going by "slow in, fast out" approach?
Are you doing sometimes necessary heel-n-toeing?
Are you doing rarely needed left-foot braking?
Are you using your stock brakes to its absolute limit (i.e. ABS kicking in)?
Are you setting the tire pressure as required throughout the runs?
etc., etc., etc.

There are many established autoX-ers on this board (check the ITR and competition forums) and I learn tons from them. You should ask away if you feel that your stock suspension is not getting the job done. (But, if you can get any of the top quality suspension parts, by all mean go for it... stock suspension can be improved but at a great cost.)

Well, if you are toalking about an ITR then I agree with all the guys here already, the stock R suspension is just awesome you just need to learn how to drive better.

But, Guys since his screen name has a gs-R I think he's complaining about the GeeSeR's suspension, which I Could understand.

So is this about an ITR suspension or a GSR suspension?

Hmm... it better me an R, 'cuz it took me several minutes to type up that thing. GS-R questions, please post on Integra forum... there are just too many suspension mods that need to be done to a GS-R to get it to turn (neutral to oversteer).

too bad Yoshi wasn't there to drive. He's been running on Stock forever and he's been doing AutoX for a long time. I need to get back to AutoX soon again as I haven't gone since last november. I corntemplated going on Sunday but made other plans to install a cage for a friend.

um... yeah... GSR suspension needs some work. I run with Comptech tie bar combo, koni rear shox, and itr front shox with ITR springs. I have yet to truly debut it though.

Ahh, you guys crack me up.
Actually yes I do have a GSR, the bright ones noticed this.
I post here because the majority of the guys here track their cars which in turn would give me more pertinent information regarding race set-up's.
Besides spring/shock rates, sway bars and LCA's the suspensions are identical, of which I am running the ITR rear bar. I am new to the autoX and road racing thing so my shock/spring set up wasn't meant for what I plan on doing. (I can thank my brother for getting me involved in autoX, it's funny he's currently STS champion, runs the solo2 msg board and eats up ITR's all day, in his Escort GT no less, ask Yoshi).

I'm not sure why some of you have such a complex about answering questions that would be helpful to an individual with a car and suspension similar to yours.

I plan on keeping the R rear sway bar but was looking for a decent spring/shock/coilover combo which would perform well without breaking the bank and offered adjustability with spring rates and such. (Thanks Dom/Dave for giving me some advice)

Dc2k-specR, your comments about Porsches and APC taillights, pretty witty. Oh, and I really don't need a scape goat as I was the fastest Integra there including a Type R (I tore him up and ate him alive with my "wack *** GSR") and and some other GSR's, Apparently I am quite a capable driver even though I lack some experience.

So anyway thanks for those who responded with some advice and experience, I really do appreciate it. And yes, as long as there are people here who have DC2 track knowledge I will continue to post here as I feel their knowledge does relate to me and my car.

 

Hey man, get used to the "ITR owner attitude". This is the MINORITY of ITR owners that have this, but watch out for these few. Anyways, the ITR suspension does rock, but you can do better with some GCs and Koni yellows. That is as close as you can get to full coilovers without spending a bundle. Alright cosworth, you get to drive the GS-R this weekend to see what basic suspension mods do. Hell let's find an autox and see if you can be the second ITR to ever post better times than my GS-R with basic mods

No offense, but being big fish at the local pond is not an accomplishment I checked his Prosolo results (a large event he ran, which is a good comparison) and he was well off the winning GS ITR's time (as well it should be).

Beating one car or the other in autox is 90% driver. I've seen Geos beat S2000's before, so it's no big deal.

haha... I used to have have a '96 GS-R, '99 EK and '86 'lud Si and I modded heck out of the suspensions on these cars and I know what works and what doesn't.

The reason for my response was due to the fact that he didn't specify which car he had. Look at his name... xxx-"R". Only thing he had to say that "I have a GS-R and can you help me out." But, no, he didn't. Simple as that. It's not an attitude, but rather annoyed at misrepresentation (by not specifying his car). Hmmm, I wonder if I should go to the Integra forum and ask what works best for the car shown in my sig.

comptech rear sway bay tie bar combo (makes a big difference)
ITR rear tower bar (no difference)
ITR springs (big difference)
ITR front shox (difference I think)
Koni yellow adjustables (big difference)

Since i still wanted some cushiness, I decided not to get Coilovers at this time. I think Yoshi liked this setup better than the GSR sus (stock). I am still learning to get better with this setup so I hope to continue improving.

That was his first prosolo. True that national events raise the bar but I think being class champion in you local region is an accomplishment. My sig couldn't be more clear, but that's fine, next time I post I'll be a little more specific-thanks.

Only if it's computer controlled 3 stage with steering wheel button override actuation. But be careful, I've heard of diamond plate floor pans falling off with that kind of shot before.
