hey i have a usdm ls motor and i am planning on getting a jdm ls motor build it and turbo it i was wondering if i wanna get a lsd tranny do i have to get new axles or anyhting like that ? and also i know i wont have to replace the harness but would i have to get a new ecu and which one so that i can rev at like 7700 instead of 7100 or whatever it is comments are apreciated thanks
wow guy, you're a noob. first off you should search for your answers because these kind of questions are asked on a daily basis and can be found throughout the entire H-T site. but since i'm not feeling to well and have nothing to do @ 1:40 a.m. i'll help ya out a bit.
depending upon what year your LS/Integra is you may have to either switch engine harness or distributors. obd1 distributor and obd2 distributors have different plugs. but you can use either distributor on either motor...it doesn't matter.
as for an LSD tranny, if you're thinking about getting an ITR tranny which is the only one that comes to mind right now(remember i'm sick)...nothing needs to be changed. with any B-series hydro tranny there is nothing that you need to modify in order to use an LSD tranny. on the other hand though, since the gearing is a lot shorter than your LS tranny it would be wise to bump up your rev limit to 7.5k or so. i would not suggest revving your stock motor past 7.5k because for one, it's not gonna make anymore power up there unless mildly modified(cams, cam gears, intake manifold, etc), and because you need to upgrade your valve train in order to rev it past that point. the weakest point in an LS motor is it's valvetrain.
ahhhhh....my head is hurting thinking so much this late, so i'll leave the rest to you.
oh btw, if you want to rev higher you'll either have to have an obd1 ecu and have it chipped, or get a standalone.
