crx with jdm b16a
hey all i am going to be doing the jdm b16a swap (complete changeover) from hmotorsonline i am going to put down everything that comes with the swap and then what the extra things are such as hasport mounts and so on, i need you to tell me what all would be necessary to do the swap in my 89 crx si (keep in mind i will be going obd1) since the swap is obd1 and i will have to convert to hydraulic.... well just let me know whats necessary and whats not thanks
- Motor
- Hydraulic Tranny (S21, Y21)
- ECU (P30)
- Axles with Half Shaft
- Shift Linkage
- Stock Motor Mounts *
- Alternator
- Starter
- Clutch
- Flywheel
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
- Distributor
- Engine Harness
- Comes With All Sensors Needed
- LSD Tranny (Optional +$300)
Extras
-da knuckles
-hasport mounts
-hasport linkage
-hasport hydraulic conversion kit
-hasport sub harness for hf and si models
not sure if i need the mounts and the conversion kit or if the mounts are included with the conversion kit and if i would need the same shiftlinkage since its gonna be hydro not cable...

you will need:
hasport motor mounts (with hydraulic thing...)
http://hasport.com/Products/Mo...2.htm
Rywire conversion for crx si to obd-1 b16a kit... including ecu jumper harness, vtec sub harness, and distributor adaptor...
http://rywire.com/sitob161.shtml
get a new clutch kit, resurface flywheel
all new hoses for the engine
water pump and timing belt
an integra throttle cable if you don't already have it
make sure your exhaust manifold has the downpipe sort of end...
new thermostat
new spark plugs, cap and rotor...
you DO NOT need DA knuckles, your si ones will be fine.
expect to do a fair amount of soldering and possibly depinning on your ecu plugs
also you might need the T-bracket that bolts the transmission/motor to the rear mount if the engine does not come with it.
you may need a new tps sensor as those are almost always bashed up on the imported motors.
this is not a cheap engine swap so be prepared to have plenty of money when you need to get one more thing... and make sure you have another car available in the meantime.
good luck!

Forgive the noobiness, but aren't knuckles hubs? And if so would you then not need them as your SI ones can take integra axles?
Also, you should not need the hydraulic conversion kit, because I swear the jdm b16a tranny is cable clutch.
edit: nm it looks like you're going for the 92-95 one, so you will need the hydro conversion kit.
I would also recommend the new clutch/resurface flywheel thing, it will make the car alot more fun to drive and is alot easier to replace when the engine is out of the car. When I got my ZC from Hmotors the clutch was burned out, so I had to replace that two months later, having to pull the engine again.
Also, the TPS should be intact as Hmotors has their importer tuck them out of the way during shipping. Mine came and worked just fine when I plugged it back in.

well, the knuckles contain the hubs, but its easier to just pull a knuckle with a hub rather than separate the hub anc change stuff around, unless you have the propper press and tools and stuff.... but the hub on the SI is the same as the DA.

I provided a pretty thourough list above, and as 31flavorscivic mentioned about the clutch, definately do that stuff when the motor is out. because, lets see... maybe $400 worth of extra parts will save much much more $$ and time down the road when you do need to replace parts. my phrase is "do it right or don't do it at all" and DO NOT take shortcuts on a swap like this. if you are serious about considering a b16a, be serious about the job. do all your research whenever you can, and well before doing the actual swap.
oh and I forgot to mention that you do also need to bash two areas on the chasis for the b16a to fit... one place is a big bowl shape around where the alternator pulley will be with the new engine (about 1" deep if possible, and maybe 4 inches in diameter) and also where the rear mount is, on that crossmember you need to bend/pound in the lip on it so the T-bracket does not touch it , otherwise it will be an annoyance that was unexpected.

Great information for your B16 swap.
And from the owner of Rywire!

You will also need B series rear bracket bolts. They don't work from the D series, well maybe one does, but just order all of them anyways. if noone else said it you need the 90-93 rear bracket.
