Default Recently finished new b20 street motor

After a small hole in the air filter allowed some sand to get into the motor and scratch the cylinder walls of my gsr cranked b20 i was forced to retire it due to excesive oil consumption @ 51,xxx miles .

i put a new b20 block together with lighter rods and the 89 crank to add a few cc's. basically using my old top end that was recently freshened up and mating it to the new block.

on rage's dyno-jet with stock gsr cams (for ***** and giggles) we got 212 and 160 ft/lbs peak power was at 7300.

after installing cams and testing a few differnt types we were able to get it upto 240whp and 162 tq. peak power was @ 8300 rpm

i also went to churches dyno to do some camparisons and more fine tuning.

on churches dyno pac the motor made 266whp and 181 tq.

later i will post the dyno sheets and list of mods.

Good stuff omni. How did a hole develop in the air filter? I'm really starting to think that church's dyno is setup to represent crank horsepower.

Well it's not equal to most dynojet whp, which I think we all have thought. But I think it's a little shy of actual bhp. I think that Church's Dynopack is recording the numbers pretty close to what it should be, wrt to dynojet whp and engine dyno bhp. It should measure higher than a dynojet since you lost both wheels, but you still have the drivetrain losses that are showing up.

Nice numbers.

Definitely waiting for an update from Steve then.

I'm currently building a motor similar to his old setup.

whats the deal with almost having the same TQ, before and after the cams??

did the second set of cams have a broader TQ curve??

also was this through a manifold?

im in for the results...

I looked up his old post...just under 2 liters, 10.7:1 compression, dynamic autosports stage A cams, hytech header, itr head. Everyone thought it was the tuning, but I pm'ed him and he said this exactly (copy & pasted): "the tuning sucks *****, lol i have a mugen computer and a vafc. there are a lot of spots that are unfixable". He is very obviously the man, and I've always thought he has secrets that will never be revealed rofl.

I thought the GSR cranked B20 also had OEM pistons?

Steve doesn't just drop cams in like a lot of people do...
