DX CRX with HF Transmission
I just bought a 1990 CRX DX that has an HF transmission in it. The CV outter boots are broken. Should the halfshafts be HF or DX halfshafts? The engine is the original d15.
This car gets great gas mileage and has enough pep to get into traffic.
Thanks

I think that the HF tranny and DX motor have incorrect number of splines, if I'm not mistaken, and the steering knuckles would be smaller, with fewer splines on those too, so its inprobable that you really have an HF tranny in a DX, and if its a DX motor/tranny setup, then you need DX axles (no half shaft is used on this setup) one way to see what tranny it is... is check your RPMs at 60 MPH in 5th gear(if you have a tach you can use)... and if your rpms are around 2000-2200 then its an HF tranny and if they are at about 3000 then its a DX tranny. I hope this helps.
The hubs on this car are the original DX. The DX halfshafts look too short. The cv boots are stretched. I was wondering if the HF shafts are longer and I need to put DX type outter splines on an HF shaft??
Thanks
