my b16 is killing catatylic converters
I already put two cat verters on my car and neither lasted very long. I have a p30 ecu. It came with the jdm b16 (Sir2). What ecu program should I get or chip my p30, to fix the problem? Thanks a lot
I TRIED THAT ALREADY. NO ONE WILL PUT A TEST PIPE ON MY CAR BECAUSE IT'S ILLEGAL. bESIDES, i'LL BE SPENDING MORE IN THE LONG RUN AND THERE WILL STILL BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. ANYONE ELSE WITH SUGGESTIONS? I GREATLY APPRECIATE ALL YOU GUYS HELP. THANKS
Its 5 bolts dude, please tell me your not going to pay someone to put a test pipe on. Plus it will make the car run a little stronger.

How do you know they didn't last too long, did you fail emissions and then buy a new one but it failed before you got the car tested again or something? I ran my B16 for a few years with the stock cat and mine didn't go, well now it's in the corner of the garage so technically it did go somewhere..

normally a very rich cond. will eat the cat up and eventually it will start to break into chunks , in my case I was running 11.5:1 afr at full throttle and it ate my powercore racing cat up, it blocked the hole going to the catback and the car was barely idling. test pipe from then on!!!! It isnt the most pleasant smell when I roll up to an intersection especially on c-16 race fuel!!!
putting a test pipe will only hide problem and not fix it. Come on guys this is honda-tech not gettorigtheshittaouttyoucar-tech. If your car is going through cats fats you have a fuel mixture problem, also do a tune up cause bad plugs can also contribute to this problem. Hers what I would do. Do a tune up on your car (oil, filter, spark plugs, check timinng) then get a apexi vafc2 and have it tuned. It will fix the fuel mixture and set your rpms at more useful levels. I did it and its worth every penny. except the last dime haha

, Im not telling the guy not to find out why he is going through cat's like rubbers, I just thought it was strange that he said no body in town will put on a test pipe. its pretty obvious that his car is running rich or he is buying junk converters, maybe its a bad 02 sensor , fuel pressure regulator, those two could very well be the prob.

VAFC is masking the problem just as bad as a test pipe. We don't even know how the original posters "cat verters" didn't "last very long"..
thanks guys. I knew when the cats broke, because I could hear it. It breaks up inside. I got a new o2 sensor, so that's not the problem. The cats that broke were a magnaflow one and a random tec one.

Its not like is deleting a emission sensor or anything. VAFC adjusts the fuel to air mixture. Have you ever even had one? They are VERY useful. I have the Apexi VAFCII on my EG hatch and it works great.

You would still keep the O2 sensor on a test pipe, **** most of them have the bung already on there.
I actually own a VAFC and they are junk, IMO. No control of ignition maps to match the changes you make to the fuel maps. Well I can't say junk, they do what they do quiet well. It's what its lacking that makes it suck. Thankefully this guy I know is all gun hoe about the VAFC and said he would buy mine for $400, little does he know I would probably let it go for $50. Like I said this just seems odd to me since I never had an issue for the couple years I still had my cat on a JDM B16A with a JDM P30 and the VAFC tuned adding fuel.
