lowering car question
on adjustable lowering springs.... i was told that the more you loosen the spring the lower the car will set, but i was told a while ago you want the springs as tight as they can get. so how are you supposed to slam the car if the springs are so god damn tight, or am i just a retard and dont know wtf im talking about? cuz i lost the tool to tighten and loosen the spring, and i was thinking i had to tighten the spring to make the car lower cuz thers still about an inch or so of a gap between the tire and frame. but i got a friend that is gonna try to make me one at work, so ya.
What brand do you have? It sounds like you are talking about the jam nuts that are on the coil sleeves. If you need a spanner wrenches you can buy them. And the spring is always the same rate there is no loosening and tighting of the spring. Lowering or raising your car has to do with the the position of the jam nuts on the coil sleeve.
Jam nuts are the things that you need the spanner tool to adjust.
If you have cheap sleeves that slide over your stock shocks then no you can't do what you are asking.
Loose springs lower the car but make the ride soft.
Tight springs raise the car but make the ride stiff.
If you own a real coil over system like Omni or Tien (sp?) you can make the springs tight and lower the car, have your cake and eat it to.

um, i dont have stock shocks, i got kyb shocks (probly isnt top of the line, but it was only like $190) with some off brand adjustable springs. but the problem is i dont have the "spanner tool" anymore to adjust the jam nuts
is there a place i can buy just that tool, cuz i dont feel like buying another whole set of springs just for that tool.
