Default cvcc motor EJ1

greetings all, I have been looking around the net for any info and technical specs for the honda EJ1 cvcc motor, I realise this forun deals more with newer cars and motors but I am going to stick with the older stuf.
So, do any of you members have any knowledge of these motors or be able to point me in the right direction?
the cars I am running are '80-'82 honda civics, I race them on a local clay oval race track with prety good sucsess. my prefered motor is the aluminum block EJ1 1.3L even though I could go with a steel block 1.8L. I think any aditional power from the biger motor is ofset by the additional weight of the steel block.

I just bought a '78 Accord hatch w/ a CVCC motor. It is very difficult to find info on these old Honda's. I do know that Weber still sells a carb kit for the CVCC that bumps it up to 80hp. Other little mods will help of course.

SOrry bro, I know almost nothing about the old school motors. I recall reading something about there being an alternate to the CVCC head on some Canadian motors a while back in some magazine.

You need to talk to Adam Malley in GA. I don't have his number but Catch22 might.

My experience has only been with the Civic 1200 and after comparing a car with a built EB for rallying (cam, headwork, pistons, carbs, header, exhaust, lightened flywheel) and my relatively stock car (rebuilt motor with minor headwork, exhaust) it's better to spend money on other areas as the gains aren't anywhere near as dramatic as seen on any of the later series engines.

However, that said, there are a few items you might consider but the main one, from what I recall, is that the EJ and EB gearboxes can be interchanged. Personally, I prefer the Civic 1200 4 speed due to its shorter gearing and 4.933:1 final drive.

Head-wise, I'd try and find the non-CVCC head which was used in most other countries such as Australia, Japan, UK and have it cleaned up and rebuilt. Failing that, I'd look into checking if the Civic 1200 sourced EB head will bolt onto the EJ block; given the similarity and bottom-end interchangeability I wouldn't be surprised if this will work.

In terms of brakes, I've heard of people using the wagon's rear drums and CRX front discs but that's all I know about that.

Best of luck.
