My friend got a B16a J-spec, just the motor no tranny and was wondering if it was a 1st or 2nd generation. and what is the difference.

 

take a look at the intake manifold and the plugs. if the intake manifold has alot of crap on it then it is a first gen. if the plugs are milky white and not gray then it is a first gen. and u can also look at the numbers on the head.
