Default BIGGEST CAMS FOR A STOCK LSVTEC

I have a stock ls vtec. ( stock 2000 b16 head, and stock b18a1 bottom). The engine runs great but I would like more power. Can I run skunk2 stage2 cams with upgraded valve spring and retainers of course without upgrading the pistons. Is it possible?? How are the power gains???

I have heard that there are clearance issues with valves and pistons.

You wouldn't see full potential of a stage 2 cam without getting higher CR.

i wouldnt run anything bigger than a gsr cam with stock ls pistons, you might be able to gt away with itr's but only if you clay for clearance. Forget about the stage 2's unless you can installl a set of p30's or jdm itr pistons

Are you kidding me? My roomate is running a 5.4cc dome with a thing headgasket, stock pr3 head with S2 Pro 1's....12.6 lift and he has NO problems with valve to piston clearences. To the origonal creator, I would get my hands on some type r cams if I was you.

What pistons is he running? obviously not a stock pr4 ls piston like the thread creator. How does your room mate like the pro1's? I love them in my 11.6-1 b16a and cany wait to use them in my lsvtec

That has nohting to do with it. Stock LS pistons have a smaller valve releif then vtec pistons so bigger cams don't have as much clearance.
