auto transmission fluid change
best way is as follows:
raise the front of the car up, support with stands (unless you have a lift that is). while doing that, take off the front wheel that is next to the transmission (it's the passenger side wheel on mine i think, but it might be different for different cars).
once the wheel's off, look for a round bolt sticking out of the transmission that has a square hole in it. use a 3/8" drive socket wrench (don't put a socket on the wrench, just put the wrench directly into the hole as if it were a socket), and slowly take it out. make sure you have a pan or something else sitting below to catch the fluid as it drains out.
you might have to really work that bolt to get it loose, but it will eventually come off. be very careful with it, don't drop it on the ground because you don't want to strip any threads.
after the fluid drains out completely, put the bolt back in, and tighten it real good. if you want to, you might also put a dab of grease on the threads.
put the wheel back on, get the old fluid out of the way, and lower the car back down (don't forget to re-torque the lug nuts!).
open the hood, and look for the transmission dip stick. you'll probably have to remove the air intake to see it. put a funnel with a long *** neck in the hole, and pour three quarts of ATF in (i recommend Mobil 1 synthetic ATF).
replace the tranny dipstick, replace the intake, and close the hood. drive to the nearest parts store and recycle the old transmission oil.

i should also mention that old transmission fluid smells like ****, and will be very dark. new transmission fluid will be a wied red color, and won't smell quite as bad.
remember to change your transmission fluid once a year!

it went real sucessful. THANKS!
i think the hardest part of this whole thing was to find a place to recycle the fluid.
i had to go to import place downtown to dispose of it. autozone or napa didnt take it. but yuh. thanks for all the help.

really? autozone didn't take it? hmm, last time i brought tranny fluid to an autozone they took it, no questions asked.
'course i don't recall if they actually look inside the bag!
anyway, no problem with the write-up. i may not know to much, but i can definitely share what i do know.
