Default Clutch Disengaged

A family friend just signed over a 98 accord lx 5spd 4cyl. to me for free. It has 120k on it and has been kept up and maintained. She claims that she was driving fine and the clutch just disengaged. I just towed it to my house and the motor runs just fine but there is absolutely no clutch engagement and the maintainence light is on. Now i havent had any time to look over the car in depth and was wondering if there is any thing in particular i should look for. As of now i can only assume the clutch needs to be replaced all together. I am just concerned about her story about the car running fine then just disengaging. Any info would be a great help

what does the pedal feel like when the car is on and you press it down to the floor?
