Default type s cam/ piston question

sorry imma neewbie....can i use stock usdm valve springs and retainers with type s cams? or do i need to change them? also can i use usdm piston rods with type s pistons?

The rods will be fine....springs and retainers you should change.

Use H22a4 Rods, stock valvetrain should be fine to be honest, I wouldn't go above 7800 though to be safe.
