mini me vtec swap vtec not working

Default mini me vtec swap vtec not working

i put a 97 y8 head on a 97 y7 block. there was oil restrictor in the block so i just bolted the head on. the engine runs fine but when vtec kicks in the it just starts to bogges. did i must something when i installed the head?

I think that you're suppose to remove the oil jet(if there is one) on the block, or vtec will not engage. When I did my mini-me with a Y7 block, there was no oil jet. I just bolted up the head, ran the vtec and vtec oil pressure wires. Make sure that you wired up the vtec wires to the correct location on the ecu. Also, make sure the wire for the vtec oil pressure is being grounded properly. That will also cause the vtec to not engage. good luck
What ecu are you running? OBD-2 civic vtec ecu is a P2P, and non-vtec is P2E

swap it into a 93 civic si/ex has vtec wired already and iam running the stock p28.
yeah there was no oil jet in the block.
