Acura 2000 (damaged my car)
Edit: whole story, (lots to read)
approx. 1:30pm on thursday, Sept. 29, we went to the Acura 2000 dealership in brampton. reason being was i heard a clicking/popping sound upon braking and acceleration. didn't know what it was but it sounds like some drive axles, but i wanted to confirm. and the fact that acura has a 5 year drivetrain warranty which actually includes drive axles, made me think why not if its the axles than hey they can replace it under warranty.
okay we get there, i have one friend in my car and another friend comes in another vehicle. i enter the complex first and we locate a parking spot on the side where they store some of the vehicles, i parked first front in, and my friend parks right next to me on the passenger side, so he has protected my "passenger side" now we leave go inside go to the service desk and file a report stating that i want my car checked out and i hear these noises. okay its done, he takes my keys and says we'll check it shortly.
while waiting we are browsing the show room, after a while, probably about an hour later, we see a guy enter my driver side door and moves the car i guess to the back, and at that point never really paid any attention to the car. about an hour later upon that a mechanic comes out and goes do you want to take a test drive, so i go sure, and upon walking outside, i see a nice dent in the quater panel right above the Type R sticker it barely nicks the door as well. and at that point i was flipping. and he says that he got the car like that.
so than here comes the Service Advisor Supervisor he gets contacted and we wait a bit to get somebody from Oakville to review the cameras. he's inside aready viewing and queueing everything up. i shows me to angles, car coming in and car coming out of the back where they go into the service bay. stil shots, black and white video, near imposible to even judge if its there, but they used the line that we have on our integras and they see a blur. so i'm like lets see my car when i first arrive, you see a perfectly solid line, and they are like no its blurry, and i'm like the shots you just showed me are blurry too.
he also states that upon entering the vehicle they always check the car, and when you see the video from me parked and them fast forwarding, you get to the poitn where, you see the guy just enter the car, didn't even walk around it, just straight into the vehcile.
so now we are having a **** fight, they are claiming i brought the car in damaged and they are not going to fix it, so the Service Advisor is like well you know what, we are not going to be mean, we'll see how much the repair is and give you a deal. so they work it out, and the bodyshop manager says its 2000 retail, but were goign to give you cost price since we don't want to make any money. and that would be roughly 600-800. i'm like no, so he's like you hvae to talk to the owner than, i said fine, i want your name, the person that viewed the tape's anme and the bodyshop manager's name, and of course the owner's name.
i call friday morning before work, owner is not going to be in until monday. okay fine, so that leads to today, i call up Acura Customer Relations, file a complaint and they said they'll look at it and contact me back by the end of the day, now i'm at the dealership again, i talk to the owner, the owner hasn't even seen the tape and says that he trusts his workers. and this is where i ask him that when you guys take my keys, you guys should be held liable for anythign that happens to my car, he says nope, we are not held responsible, your ins. is held responsible, anythign that happens is through your ins. and he gives me the comparision about if i were to go to the mall and park it'd be the same as parking my car here at the dealership, but i detest and say you guys took my keys and therefore you should be held liable, if i didn't give you my keys than thats a different story.
so than after a long discussion he's like let me see what i can do, he talks to hte service advisor i guess and comes back and says we'll fix your car for 600, and i'm like no, he's like i'm already losing money, and in my head i was thinking, i thought that was cost price, and cost price from my knowledge means that you don't make money, thats what it cost you to do everything. he walks away and service advisor goes if you want it let me know and i'll take care of it, so i ask him to see the video again, but he's like sorry guy is not in, he's on jewesh holiday won't be back until wednesday. so i said fine i'll see you wednesday than.
call up Acura CR. and they are going to follow up and see what they can do, and they said they'll call me back by the end of the day. so we'll see what happens.
any directions or pointers can be appriciated, thanks in advance, i want them to fix my car since they caused the damages.
note: i'm going to back on wednesday to review the camera again, and also there is alot of more smaller minute stuff that happened during the video. which i will post a little later.

Len works at an Acura dealership, which is an independent business franchised by American Honda, the division of Honda Motor Co. that runs sales and marketing in the United States.
The situation above involves another Acura dealership, which is an independent business franchised by Honda Canada, the division of Honda Motor Co. that runs sales and marketing in Canada and whose policies may be entirely different from in the United States.
Other than that, you're right, this dealership in Canada and Len's dealership in the United States are the exact same company and bound by each other's actions.

So what happened to the car? body damage? something that you could see from the surveillence tape?
If nothing happened, then why bother telling you that they are not responsible for what happens to your car after you hand over the keys?
I hope you have pictures from before you brought the car in and ones after (preferably not camera phone pictures). Sounds like it will come down to your word against theirs...
This is the kind of thing that keeps me away from the dealer... other than the parts counter. It just takes one asshat to think they are entitled to joyride your car that you have entrusted to the dealership...
Though I might have to give in and take my car in in the near future to see if they are willing to service my transmission under powertrain warranty (wish me luck). Looks like Acura 2000 is off the list, I've heard some shadiness from Acura North as well...

dc2fanboy, yeah severe body damage, the quaterpanel looks liek it was kicked in, but of course it wasn't, it was hit by somethign or someone whom drove my car turned to closely.
i have pictures from ins. that were taken on the 19th, and i will get a digital camera of course and take better pics, but i have a 2megapixel camera phone from sony, pictures actually turn out pretty good, but of course for safer measures i will take some pics with a digi.
yeah that actually does make kinda sense, but yeah everybody is telling that they are suppose to be held responsible upon reciving my keys.

whoa.. i imagined something small that's huge. usually before Acura take your keys (my dealer at least) they do a walk around and check off any damage on that sheet of paper, and give you a copy, much like renting a car. That implied them taking responsibility for new damage. Did they do that for you?
they claimed upon inspection of the car the damage was already there, umm, hello when you see that kind of damage you'd call teh customer and say "there's a huge dent on the vehicle" but however the guy entered the vehicle before walking around hte car and just got in and brought the car straight to the back.
hey lifter,
in the whole mix, here's a quick note story.
went to get car checked out for front end noise, came back and the car was dented, and they blamed it on me saying it was alreayd there.
now we are in a **** fight.

HOLY SH*T
did they just lean something up against your car or something???? That dent is way too high for them to have hit anything while "driving" your car. Looks like something hit your car instead.

i don't know how it happened, thats how i saw the car when they told me to go take a test spin. i was in shock, almost passed out when the realizatoin that it was my car.
jeez.....this is not right
and here i thought Canadian dealers would be nicer and more friendly (guess i was wrong)
well goodluck sorting this out nautica, obviously this isnt something small

If this gets taken to court, unless Acura filled out on the paper before they took the car behind the back that there was damage there, which it sounds like they didn't, I don't think they really have anything on you. The last time I took my car in for service the service writer went out to my car and inspected it and filled out a piece of paper saying there was no damage. It sounds like it didn't happen in this case.
