Default blowing off in neutral? need a small turbo for it?

Hey i was wondering how some people blow off in neutral. You know, rev the engine and it blows off? My buddies eclipse does this.. is it just cause it has a really small turbo and it can spool up in neutral?

I have a t3/t4 and even if i rev it to like 5krpms in neutral it doesnt blow off... opf course it blows off fine in gear and such.

Not like its a big issue i was just wondering the technical side behind this?

Does it blow off when you have it in gear and the clutch is engaged?.................

...........try revving to around 8k in neutral and see if it does it
You have to create excess pressure for it to disperse the surplus.

it does when i shift or let off the gas in boost but if im just dead stopped i cant make it blow off.

Be it neutral revving or putting it in first, holding down the clutch and revving.

I can get it to like just under 0psi but thats it, and thats at like 5krpms....

should i be able to blow off at a dead stop with a t3/t4 turbo?

My t3t4 does this, only when I rev to 7k+rpm.

The DSM BOV is open with vacuum, while most aftermarket BOV's require some boost to open. In other words, you don't need to make boost to make the "pssss" sound with a DSM BOV.

you didn't understand why you can't spool the turbo at idle and you have a turbo civic?

you have a bigger turbo so its harder for it to get moving with no load on the motor. get a 2step and build boost at idle eheh

yeah well the hondata 2 step sucks doesnt really build boost just hold you rpm because it cuts fuel and not ignition

anti-lag + neutral rev = blowoff...and extreme stress

As said, you need something that will cut spark and (if its worth its salt) retard timing to make boost.

Also as said, this is not a function you should abuse often, nor one you want engaged all the time, ALS tends to destroy turbos unless they're designed for it or particularly well built.

LOL angry - that's funny - the only time I got my t3/o4 turbo to blow off at idle was when I was super pissed off and revved the **** out of my car at someone who cut me off.

well i always thought that factory turbo cars can blow off by reving is because its actually made for turbo, so u know that motor was done perfect far as tuning and ect. and when you go and try to turbo something else you not gonna get it as perfect as factory turbo motor because they think about this way more deeply than us i think. jus imo cuz think about it a eclipse or sr20 or anything thats turbo can rev it jus a little bit and you hear that blow off valve but when one of us do it we dont hear ****. cuz i jus hear a whistle if i rev mine and thats jus prolly cuz i got a type s bov.

Sorry, that is incorrect. Atleast SR20s are not so easy to blowoff like the DSM or SRT4s.

Yeah im pretty sure its due to the size of turbos used by hondas. When you think about it, dsms are using 2.0 dohc motors with t25s and 14bs and look at the turbo size on a wrx or srt4. They are pretty small.

Yeah man, it's normal. I have a stock b16 with sc61, and i don't hear my Greddy Type S blow off in neutral unless i rev it to like 7k. But under normal driving, it works perfectly. I mean, if you really want it to blow off all the time you could adjust the bov to open ealier (before 0 on the boost gauge), but that would just be stupid.

I'm pretty sure it's just the bigger turbo. Cuz i let a friend with a turbo eclipse (factory dsm turbo) borrow my type s and it was blowing off under very low revs. But my sc61 doesn't do that.
